| Sarah waiting for the furnace to stabilize. The temperature in the furnace goes through a cycle.  As more charcoal is added the temperature drops.  As it ignites the temperature climbs, and more sparks appear.  Then the furnace gets into its "steady state" with a fairly consistent temperature where work can be done for a few minutes.  The the temperature drops as the charcoal is used up and the process must be repeated.
