| The interior after vacumn removed fine particles. The shape of the slag mass can be easily seen at this point. The dark gap at the lower centre of the image is a hole through to the air passage underneath. Just up from this was an arch of hardened slag. Trace a slight diagonal up and to the left from the first gap to the end of the air passage.In the end we found we had been forcing air underneath a block of hardened slag. Previous
