- pounder (to perform the preliminary consolidation inside the smelter)
- coal scoop (to remove charcoal)
- hook (to pry the bloom)
- Rake to move the charcoal
- Radner to clear the tuyure and break the bloom from the smelter
- small tongs for handling various pieces of bloom
